Beautiful and healthy skin is a dream for many of us, but achieving it requires proper care and consistency. Daily exposure to pollution, stress, and external factors can lead to skin problems such as breakouts, dryness, and premature signs of aging. The key to radiant and smooth skin is a thoughtful home care routine based on a few simple yet effective steps. Discover the essential rules of a daily skincare routine—from makeup removal, toning, and exfoliation to properly selected serums and creams that will take care of your skin every day.

1. Makeup Removal

Performed both in the morning and evening, makeup removal is a crucial step in home skincare. Cleansing the face of makeup and impurities (dust, smog, sebum) prevents breakouts and clogged pores. It also enhances the absorption of active ingredients in skincare products. The best method is a two-step cleansing process: first, remove makeup, then repeat the cleansing on pre-cleansed skin. Skipping this step can accelerate skin aging processes.

Popular products for eye and facial makeup removal:

  • Cleansing milk (rich in active ingredients): mature, dry, sensitive skin
  • Gel (may cause a "tightening" feeling): young skin, all skin types
  • Micellar water (gentle action): sensitive, allergic skin

2. Skin Toning

Restores the skin’s natural pH balance and tightens pores (toners).

3. Exfoliation

Exfoliation removes the most superficial (cornified) layer of the epidermis, which consists of dead cells.

Types of exfoliators:

  • Mechanical (abrasive action) - products with granular particles, recommended for oily and combination skin
  • Enzymatic (enzyme-based action) - suitable for all skin types, especially sensitive and vascular skin

Recommended frequency based on skin type:

  • Oily skin: 1-3 times a week
  • Dry, vascular, sensitive skin: no more than 1-2 times a week (enzymatic peel)
  • Normal skin: even just once a month

4. Serum

The use of this product must be properly chosen and targeted to address specific skin concerns (e.g., smoothing, cell regeneration, firming). A serum is a cosmetic with a very high concentration of active ingredients. It offers stronger effects than a cream and enhances the absorption of the ingredients in the cream.

5. Cream

Applying a cream is the final step in home skincare. A cream that meets the individual needs of your skin should be massaged in or gently patted into the facial skin.

Types of creams:

  • Day cream: Choose a product with a light consistency, not too greasy, to avoid a shiny skin effect. It should provide proper hydration, strengthen the skin's protective barrier, and prevent wrinkle formation.
  • Night cream: Opt for creams with a heavier consistency, regenerating, and rich in higher amounts of active ingredients supporting the skin's repair functions.
  • SPF cream: A sunscreen should be used daily throughout the year. Lack of SPF contributes to skin cancer, accelerated aging processes, sun spots, and loss of hydration.
