The Kłodzko Valley offers over 500 km of marked cycling routes through the Table Mountains, the Bystrzyckie Mountains and the Orlickie Mountains. The region has trails for families with children, recreational cyclists and experienced mountain bikers. Most popular loops start directly from Polanica-Zdrój or its immediate surroundings. Hotel Bukowy Park at ul. Parkowa 11 is a convenient base, as you can reach the main trailheads by bike in 5 to 20 minutes.

From family loops to mountain singletracks

The Kłodzko Valley is surrounded by the Table Mountains to the north, the Bystrzyckie and Orlickie Mountains to the west, and the Śnieżnik Massif to the south. Gentle river valleys work well for relaxed trips with children. Mountain passes and singletracks, on the other hand, provide a challenge for more demanding riders.

Polanica-Zdrój sits centrally in the Kłodzko Valley at an elevation of about 380 m above sea level. This makes it easy to set off in any direction: north to the Table Mountains, west to Duszniki-Zdrój and Zieleniec, or east to Kłodzko with its fortress and underground tourist routes.

The Bystrzyca Valley loop: Polanica, Szczytna, Duszniki-Zdrój

This is one of the most popular paved routes in the region, approximately 34 km long. It leads from Polanica-Zdrój through Szczytna to Duszniki-Zdrój and returns via back roads through Podgórze. The route follows local roads with little traffic. The elevation gain is moderate, so it suits families with children over 10 years old.

Along the way it is worth stopping in Duszniki-Zdrój at the Paper Museum housed in a paper mill dating from 1605. You can also stop in Szczytna for ice cream and a rest before heading back. The entire loop takes 3 to 4 hours at a relaxed pace with stops.

The Road of a Hundred Bends: Radków, Karłów, Kudowa-Zdrój

The Road of a Hundred Bends (regional road no. 387) is an approximately 23 km route connecting Radków with Kudowa-Zdrój via Karłów and the Lisia Pass at 780 m above sea level. The elevation difference along the route exceeds 400 metres. The road is paved and runs through the Table Mountains, past the Rock Pillars and Szczeliniec Wielki.

For cyclists this is a demanding but scenic ride. It is best to start from Radków (easier climb) and descend to Kudowa via switchbacks. However, summer car traffic on this road can be heavy. As a result, it is better to go early in the morning or on weekdays. From Polanica-Zdrój to Radków you can cycle in about 45 minutes (approximately 18 km on local roads via Wambierzyce).

Singletrack Glacensis: 260 km of mountain bike trails

Singletrack Glacensis is a system of over 260 km of single-track cycling paths spread across the entire Kłodzko Land. The network consists of 27 loops. Trails have marked difficulty levels from 1 (family-friendly) to 4 (difficult). Beginners can start with family loops of 5 to 10 km in length.

The nearest loops to Polanica-Zdrój are around Spalona and Zieleniec (about 17 km from town). Near Zieleniec you will find the Orlicka, Sołtysia, Widokowa and Gajowa loops. Near Spalona there is a loop leading to the summit of Jagodna (977 m) with a 17-metre observation tower. Additionally, Srebrna Góra has enduro trails totalling 32 km.

Bike rental and practical information

Polanica-Zdrój has bike rental shops with a wide range of equipment. ZAYAVA rental at ul. Zdrojowa 39 (tel. 536 707 333) offers mountain, electric and trekking bikes. Electric bike prices start from about PLN 35 per hour and PLN 150 per day. Forrest Polanica at ul. Sikorskiego 25A also rents e-bikes at similar prices. Both shops can recommend a route suited to your skill level and fitness.

An electric bike is a good choice in this terrain as it eliminates the problem of steep climbs. Batteries with a capacity of 540 to 625 Wh provide a range of about 100 km. This makes even longer routes over mountain passes accessible for families and riders of average fitness.

Recovery after a ride at Hotel Bukowy Park

After a full day in the saddle it is worth returning to Hotel Bukowy Park for a proper meal. Bread is baked fresh every morning. Guests can also use the SPA and Medical SPA facilities, which help relax muscles after intensive riding.

The hotel has free parking, making it easy to arrive with your own bikes on a car rack. Polanica-Zdrój is centrally located in the Kłodzko Valley, about 13 km from Kłodzko and about 18 km from Duszniki-Zdrój.
